SUSTAINABILITY

Hughes & Salvidge recognise the significance that construction activities can have on achieving sustainable developments in the 21st Century.

Accordingly Hughes & Salvidge will seek, where practicable, to promote the conservation and sustainable use of natural resources in all their own activities, and through its influence, on others.

  • We accept that sustainability embraces social, political and economic issues as well as environmental ones.
  • When assessing the impact of individual projects we undertake, the boundary will be clearly defined, and be drawn to allow a quantitative assessment to be made.

We will pursue this policy by:

  • Differentiating ourselves through innovation and the ability to add value.
  • Anticipating and responding to the needs of our customers.
  • Striving for continuous improvement and demonstrating professionalism and excellence in all our activities and those of our supply chain
  • Training and encouraging our staff to develop and contribute to their full potential.
  • Ensure that our environmental policy is applied to on all our projects, both prior to commencing works and during the life of the project.

Hughes & Salvidge will continually review all their activities and services to meet the objectives of this policy, developing it ,as appropriate, to absorb any new ideas and information gathered from the many projects we undertake.

Any employee seeking advice or clarification on sustainability issues should, in the first instance, contact their immediate supervisor.

The following quote, we believe, summarises many of the issues this policy is designed to address.

"Sustainable Development is a process which enables all people to realise their potential and improve upon their quality of life in ways which simultaneously protect and enhance the Earth's life support system."
