ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

The Company recognises it has a responsibility to protect the environment and its statutory duty to comply with all environmental legislation. Accordingly, the Company is committed to the removal or mitigation of the environmental consequences of its activities. It is to this end that the company have formulated an Environmental Policy.

The Management "Organisation", which details the responsibilities of all employees and the necessary "Arrangements" are outlined in the full Policy. Details of the Environmental Policy can be found in Appendix E of the full Policy which is available at the operational office and is issued to the Operations Director and all Site Managers/Supervisors, for reference.

The Statement sets out how the Environmental Policy will be implemented by meeting the following criteria:

  • Compliance with all the relevant legislation, regulations, government guidance and industry codes of practice on environmental issues.
  • Ensuring that employees have a good understanding of how our business affects the environment and what they are expected to do to minimise the impact of our operations.
  • Separation of material arisings from demolition activities into separate waste streams to maximise recycling and minimise disposal.
  • Employing specialist consultants for advice and direction where necessary.
  • Employing licensed companies for the transportation and disposal of waste materials.
  • Use of modern and efficient plant and equipment.
  • Programme all our vehicles, plant and equipment for regular servicing and ensure repairs are rectified in an expeditious manner.
  • Liaison and communication with our clients and/or neighbours to ensure that our work causes minimum disturbance and disruption.
  • Ensuring that subcontractors are aware of our policy and encourage them to apply similar environmental standards to their own work.
  • Always complying with clients Environmental Policies and attempt to influence those clients who do not have such policies to tailor their contracts to be environmentally friendly.

This Statement will be displayed prominently at the operational office and all sites where the Company is Principal Contractor. The Environmental Policy will normally be reviewed on an annual basis but never later than biennially. Any changes will be brought to the attention of all employees as necessary.

As Managing Director of the Company, I have ultimate authority and responsibility for the continued effectiveness of Environmental Management within the Company and this statement represents my commitment to ensure that Environmental Management is an integral component of all aspects of Company business.
