THE ENVIRONMENT

By successfully unlocking the potential of redundant sites, removing unsightly uneconomic structures and re-cycling materials to create value for money, always in an environmentally responsible manner, Hughes & Salvidge are demonstrating a commitment to improving the environment for generations to come.

Hughes & Salvidge are dedicated to improving the environmental consequences of their demolition and related activities in a manner which will not be harmful to the environment and in accordance with their legal obligations.

When considering the impact of demolition work on the environment, Hughes & Salvidge have identified the following primary factors and actively pursue these goals.

  • Reduce the amount of fresh water used and increase the proportion of re-used water, where possible and practicable
  • Reduce waste production and increase the proportion of materials re-used and re-cycled.
  • Reduce fuel consumption through increasing fuel efficiency, driver training, good vehicle maintenance and effective route planning.
  • Reduce air and water pollution and traffic impact by means of careful planning.
  • Reduce vibration impact. For example, concrete floors are removed, where possible, using pulverisers rather than impact breakers.
  • Ensure that any surplus or waste material is disposed of in a way that causes the least possible adverse impact on the environment.
  • It is Hughes & Salvidge's policy to minimise the quantity of waste being removed from site for landfill.

The Environmental Policy Statement
