DEMOLITION OF PRINTING WORKS IN BECCLES, SUFFOLK
The William Clowes printing works in Beccles was established in 1803. The company decided to have new premises built close by. The town centre site was ideal for a new Tesco superstore and Hughes & Salvidge were awarded the £450k contract to demolish the old printing works for R G Carter to begin constructing the new store. With occupied residential and commercial premises surrounding the site, great care was taken by the Hughes & Salvidge site team to ensure that noise and dust from the demolition activity was kept to a minimum. Steel, concrete and bricks were recycled from the demolition process and these comprised 85% of the materials recycled. |
