DEMOLITION OF SUPERMARKET AND 5 STOREY CAR PARK

The original Sainsbury's Supermarket in Maidenhead Town Centre was constructed in the late 1960's and included a five storey reinforced concrete car park.
Sainsbury's decided that the existing store and the general utilisation of the total site could be improved.
They took the decision to demolish the existing store, together with the multi storey car park and to redevelop the whole site.
Our £400k twelve week contract allowed HBG to begin the construction of an enlarged Sainsbury's store, over 120 flats, offices and a decked car park over the existing surface one.
The works involved the complete demolition of the car park, the store and the formation of a piling mat for the main contract.
The project produced some 2000 tonnes of recyclable material which was crushed on site or transported to an off site recycling facility. The target for over 85% of materials to be recycled was achieved.
