DEMOLITION WORK FOR BRITISH AIRPORTS AUTHORITYHEATHROW - AIRSIDE METRO HANGAR: (Amec) This was a substantial hangar adjacent to T4 and the private Charter Plane area. TERMINAL 3: PIER 5 (Mace) Demolition of gate rooms and removal of 900 metres of rooftop plant and concrete roof to enable redevelopment. All works carried out at night. TERMINAL 3: PIER 6: (Mansell) Demolition of 6 bays, approximately 60 metres of 2 storey pier. TERMINAL 3: PIER 7 (Mace) Similar in content to works carried out at Pier 5, this project was completed in April 2006. TERMINAL 3: FOOD VILLAGE: Included working days and nights, 7 days per week for the duration. Value circa £260k TERMINAL 3: LAMU: (Taylor Woodrow) The demolition of the former London Airport Mail Unit at T3. A substantial structure, close to taxiways and aircraft stands, but with good working practices were able to carry out these works during daytime hours. VIRGIN LOUNGE: (Mace) The strip out and internal demolition of various areas at T3 Virgin Executive Lounge, as part of the redevelopment works. BAA FIT-OUT WORKS: Since early 2006, Hughes & Salvidge have carried out various demolitions, acting as Principal Contractor, involving the strip-out of retail units carrying out works directly for BAA retail. Management has been responsible for service isolations and strip out to shell and core and handing over to fit-out team. To date, works have included Burger King, O'Neils, Custody Cells (Building 820) and the Visitor Centre. TERMINAL 1: IDL PROJECT (Mace) Internal demolitions, removal of stairwells and various demolition items around baggage hall areas. VISCOUNT HOUSE: (Mace) Situated within BA's maintenance area, a significant demolition and asbestos removal project currently being undertaken. Hughes & Salvidge act as Principal Contractor with EMS acting as asbestos removal contractor. Value: Circa £950k. HEATHROW - LANDSIDE HATTON CROSS: £4 million project - Joint venture, involving extensive asbestos removal, with Hughes & Salvidge as Principal Contractor on a 50 week contract. TBF COMPLEX: Demolition of various structures in vicinity of Vanguard House, including TBD, TBF and TBH. This project was awarded Highly Commended certificate for Health & Safety from Bovis International. See video clip on home page. SOUTHAMPTON HOUSE: The demolition and asbestos removal of substantial offices and storage complex. Precision works were necessary to ensure dust did not contaminate the nearby air conditioning system. TBF Link: (Mansell) Removal of a high level baggage chute by means of a crane along with the subsequent processing and the demolition of part of the existing TBF building. Value circa £38k.
